

1. We will have Open House for the parents of our students in grades 6-12 tomorrow evening, Tuesday, August 12, beginning at 5:30. Everyone will enter through the cafeteria for the opening meeting
2. We still have some student report cards from last spring that were never picked up. If you want your child’s report card from spring 2025 stop by the office this week to pick it up. We will dispose of all those that are left at the end of this week.
3. Parent letters were sent home last week with students in grades 6-8 regarding the state of Tennessee’s Family Life classes. Please review the letter and return it ONLY if you do NOT want your child to participate in these classes. The letter must be returned within 30 days (no later than September 8).
4. Students in grades K-5 were sent home today with paperwork about our after-school LAUNCH program. Parents who wish for their child to participate in LAUNCH must return the paperwork by August 27. LAUNCH will begin on September 2 from 3:15 until 5 PM Monday-Thursday.
5. All students enter the school through the cafeteria from 7:30 to 7:55 each morning. Students who arrive after 7:55 need to enter through the main entrance.
6. Please make your child’s teacher and/or the main office aware if you are changing how your child is getting home in the afternoon. We want to ensure that each child gets where they are supposed to be at the end of the school day.
7. Make sure to download the Loudon County Schools’ app onto your phone and join the teacher’s Rooms for parent and guardian communication. You will receive notifications through these apps.
8. We ask that every family complete a free/reduced meal form upon registration. We want all qualifying families to benefit from this. You can complete the paper version or the online version.
9. The high school girls’ soccer team will play in a scrimmage tomorrow night, August 12 here at Greenback beginning at 7 PM. The middle school football team has an away game this Thursday, August 14 at Wartburg, beginning at 7:00 PM. Our middle school softball team has two games this week. They play at Eagleton tomorrow, August 14, and at Maryville this Thursday, August 14. Both games begin at 5:30 PM.

Good afternoon, this is Matt Brookshire, principal at Greenback School, and here are your weekly updates for the week of August 4, 2025.
1. Let me begin by saying welcome back to everyone! We are excited to start a new school year. Today was a staggered start day for students in grades 1-12. Today was for students whose last name begins with letters A-K. Tomorrow, students whose last name begins with letters L-Z will attend, and then everyone will be together starting this Wednesday. Keep in mind that our Kindergarten and PreK students have their own staggered start schedule.
2. I will continue to send out a weekly update each Monday afternoon at 5 PM. I am going to try something a little different this year. I will still send a full update via email, and post it to the website, but I will provide an abbreviated version by phone message. I will relay the most important items in the phone message but will include everything in the email and website post.

9. Parents of high school juniors and seniors: There is a new program being offered to juniors and seniors this school year for aviation certification. Students who are accepted into the program will gain their certification as a private airplane pilot and a commercial drone pilot. Students who are interested must apply by this Wednesday, August 6!
10. Some of our fall sports are already underway! The middle school football team will play a scrimmage this Thursday at Dayton, beginning at 6:30 PM. Our middle school softball team has two games this week. They play at Heritage Middle tomorrow, and at home against Union Grove on Thursday. Both games begin at 5:30 PM.
