
Today around 11:45 am Greenback School had to evacuate the building due to a smell lingering in one of our hallways. After the fire department investigated and determined the building safe students and staff were able to re enter the building.

Due to the extreme low temperatures combined with forecasted wind chills, Greenback School will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025.


Bus 21 will be at least an hour late leaving school this afternoon. Parents and guardians are welcome to pick their students up from the school office.

Bus 21 will run approximately 20-25 minutes late tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 15. At the time of this message, the afternoon route for bus 21 is not impacted.

Due to the likelihood of icy roads, Loudon County Schools will be closed Monday, January 13, 2025.

Due to the prediction of snow for our area, Greenback School will be closed Friday, January 10, 2025.


After school LAUNCH activities begin next week, January 13. There are NO LAUNCH activities this week. Please make sure your child has a way home from school this week at our normal dismissal time.


Friday, Dec. 20 is a half-day of school. Dismissal begins at 11 AM. Buses will run, also beginning at 11 AM. Dismissal procedures will be the same as always. All students should be picked up from school no later than 11:30 AM.

This Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, bus 21 will be picking students up approximately 20 minutes late on the morning route. Remember, you can always look at the Loudon County Transportation Page on Facebook for the most recent bus updates.


Greenback art students painted a snow plow for the Loudon County Highway Department. The snow plows are being featured in Christmas parades throughout the county.



Students on the bus 21 route will be picked up 20-30 minutes late on Thursday morning, Dec. 5. No information is available at this time regarding the afternoon route for bus 21.


Bus 21 will run 1 hour late this afternoon (12/4/24). You may want to consider making arrangements for your child to go home as a car rider today. Call the school office if you are making a change in how your child is getting home.

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our Third Grade teacher, Holly McCandless, for being named Loudon County's New Teacher of the Year! Director of Schools, Mike Garren, came by today with a cookie cake to celebrate.
