In my classroom I use many different forms of positive reinforcement. One form I use is rewarding with classroom money. Students can earn money by doing something nice for someone (holding the door, helping a friend tie a shoe lace), helping me in any way, having a positive attitude, AR tests, practically anything! Then students use that money to buy treasures or coupons for special privileges. Another form I use is Class Dojo, and reward students for the points they earn. These rewards change from class to class so I will post more information once our class has decided on what they would like. I also use the color based behavior chart. Your second grader will color in a designated area on their planner daily, that will let you know what color they ended the day on. I do write notes in there for really awesome behavior and for unwanted behavior, so please check these daily (your second grader will receive money when you sign or initial it)!
Classroom expectations are simple: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. We say please, thank you, sir, and ma'am. We allow others to learn, keep our hands and unkind words to ourselves. We are nice, welcoming, and friendly to everyone. We work hard everyday to reach our goals, and try to be a better person than we were the day before.
